The book examines approaches to immigrant integration and integration policies, with a special focus on labor market integration of young immigrants in two neighboring EU countries: Germany and Poland and in two neighboring states in the US: Arizona and California. The comparative transatlantic research framework and the analysis of the empirical study of the cities of San Diego, Phoenix, Munich, and Warsaw offer answers to the following questions: What factors influence the development of local labor market integration initiatives for young immigrants? How do these factors enable the receiving society to tap into the potential of young immigrants seeking to enter the labor market? Is the exchange of integration policy research and practical experience with integration services in the US and the EU useful and transferable? The analysis of integration management of immigrant youth and recommendations for further transatlantic research and practical work should help to raise awareness of the integration challenges which have yet to be recognized so far either by national governments or local communities.
