The author examines if creativity concepts from Organization Studies are embedded in artistically-creative practice of music production in the genre rock music. Based upon ideas of postmodern thought, rock music is approached as a social practice of cultural production. The analysis is conducted as a qualitative in-depth case study on the rock group Queen. Empirical data is constructed by doing a ‘library study’ in Glaser/Strauss’s (1967/2010) sense, thus making use of all available text and audio-visual material about the band and its members since the 1970s. The author argues that Queen’s practices of cultural production organise Queen’s artistic creativity by giving form to Queen’s relations to self and others. By questioning her practice of researching artistic creativity, the author argues reflexivity to be an essential and natural element in any research. Thus, scientific projects already contain some form of reflexivity in the phase of study design and this reflexivity proceeds throughout the whole process of any research.
